renderDragon Glass (For Akshay!)

  • Aperture: ƒ/4
  • Camera: NIKON D90
  • Taken: 15 April, 2012
  • Focal length: 50mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/30s

I decided to make some glasses for my brother. He co-owns and operates a relatively new game development company, renderDragon. I made this pair of glasses for him with some help. Also, my first experiment into depth and layering the sand blasting. I’m happy with how it came out :)

Firefly Glass!

Serenity Firefly, not the bug firefly.

  • Aperture: ƒ/1.8
  • Camera: NIKON D90
  • Taken: 17 April, 2012
  • Focal length: 50mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/10s

Here’s the glass in a clearer, less artsy picture. It’s a bit big, so I had to take two photos. The etching process lends itself to a loss of some detail, which I’m working on improving but it’s still producing some fantastic results. I’m happy with it :)

End of Days Monitor [Part III] (Final!)

To be honest, I kind of wish I never called this a steampunk monitor, because people have certain expectations of steampunk. It’s a provocative buzz word, and I’m guilty of trying to appear in search results. Really, this is more of an “industrial grunge” or an “End of Days” monitor [Editor note: I originally titled all my posts Steampunk Monitor but have since changed them, and the accompanying URLs]. Anywho, onwards!

    • Aperture: ƒ/6.7
    • Camera: NIKON D90
    • ISO: 200

Here’s the frame all painted. I used wrinkle black to get a rough texture, and it came out quite nicely.

Star Wars Last Supper Mosaic (New)

I did it. For the countless e-mails I’ve received, for my love of big projects, for Star Wars, and for myself. I remade the star wars mosaic. Admittedly, I did not spend as much time creating it as I did the first time. Whether it’s because I’m better at it than I was, whether I was just lazier and didn’t take as much care, who knows. I have created a few print size downloads, one is 300 dpi , one is 600dpi, and one is 900 dpi. Continue reading for the download links and more screenshots. Merry Christmas Robin!

We shared our gifts early, and now I can share mine to Robin with you early :)
For her Christmas present I took a page out of my buddy’s book and made her a brand. Business cards, personal web-portfolio-resume-thing, customized laptop, and a very special Robin at robinkurachik dot com email address. Here’s the business cards:

        Star Wars!!!

        Gosh I love star wars.
In honor of SWTOR early launch tomorrow, I whipped this up. If you want to print out a copy to gift/hang or whatever as a lot of people seem to want, I made a full 300 dpi pdf

There’s a black border above and below, when printing I would trim it (Kinkos has great cutters for anyone to use, free of charge). Also, Kinkos will print a pretty decent quality heavy gloss (try to get 10pt) relatively cheap. If you want to print it bigger, let me know in the comments. If enough people are interested I’ll redo it from the vector backing for a 24×36″ poster size or something. I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING STAR WARS COPYRIGHT RELATED. I WILL NOT CHARGE ANYTHING FOR THIS. I am also not accepting donations for this piece. If you have lots of gratitude, please leave a comment and show me some love, or email me at avi at avinasharora dot com, or use my contact form, or whatever.

If you liked this, remember I’m that dude that made the star wars last supper into a mosaic using only star wars stills. Viewable here.

          Custom Victory Vegas Jackpot Fender

          [wdgpo_plusone]
Happy Birthday Joe Bruno IV! So, I’m going to do a brief catalog of our past two attempts at making a custom fender, unsuccessfully. We learned a load of stuff, and had an experienced hand lend us some advice. Here’s to attempt number three!
img_1644 Whee fender! So, our first attempt we essentially just wrapped the fender rails (after masking and whatnot) with a metal mesh, t shirt, and fiberglass. Resin’d it all up and that was pretty much it. Total time, a day. It would have worked, but it did really suck.
Hit the link for the full catalog and Joe’s present.

            Firefly Tribute

            [wdgpo_plusone]
Well I made a first post in the other two groups, so I might as well post up some piece from my archives.

I had posted a blog about this piece on my last blog, but after my website re-write I decided to just blank everything so I couldn’t cheat anywhere and try to reuse stuff. So here’s the firefly montage I made for my friend’s birthday, Happy Birthday (again) Chris!
